LISTEN: Laura Marling Releases New Song “I Feel Your Love”

The Folk singer and Musician Laura Marling is heading into March like a lion after a strong February. The latest from this 25 year old artist? A new single called “I Feel Your Love” released in anticipation of her fifth album Short Movie.

Short Movie is Marling’s fifth album in seven years, and has some new changes for fans who have been listening over that time period.

The new single includes some of the new aspects of the album, the prevalence of electric guitar being the most noticeable sound change. She also was self producing the album, another first for the young musician. With the creative reign over her album, she implemented practices that led to the loose flowing feel that is really embodied in her music. One of these practices was pushing her band to record live and insisting the string players perform “blind”, only hearing each track once before recording their parts.

The free guitar passages, and interweaving sounds blend with the orchestral strings that only compliments Marling’s voice. The embracing of the twangs of guitar seem to parallel the few times that her voice hesitates or cracks. All an all creating a very real, relaxing, and powerful sound that could only been done through her new practices.

Recently Marling has released a video, been involved with Gill Landry, got confirmed as performer at SXSW, and released a new song. Of course mxdwn has you covered, and by brushing up on past posts you can find out more.
