Jack White may be the cover story of Billboard magazine on March 10th, but that’s not the big and exciting story. What is is that he has confirmed an exclusive release of Elvis Presley’s first ever album for Record Day 2015, April 15th.
The recent Grammy winner and the author of best-selling vinyl album in decades, Lazaretto, was revealed to be the mystery buyer of the primary record from the king.
The auction that White payed 300,000 thousand dollars for the record at was held on what would have been the King of Rock and Roll’s 80th birthday, January 8th. The album is known as an important piece of rock and roll, but also music history as well, making the plans he has for it even more amazing.
White plans to release an unaltered, as is, sort of rerelease of the album through the Third Man label company. The album which features vocal staples and classics like “My Happiness” and “That’s When Your Heartaches Begin” has been recreated with the utmost attention to detail and also to the historical presentation of many forms of art. The stickers, the sleeve, and even the cover has been worked on as to provide an accurate historical reference to what it was like to open that album initially.
The press release also stated that,
Later this year, Third Man will release a widely available features, with newly restored versions of the two songs. Working from a transfer done by industry expert Alan Stoker at the Country Music Hall of Fame, the audio will be as clean as modern technology can make it without losing the feeling and soul that makes these two songs both haunting and breath-taking.
