LISTEN: The Wombats Release New Track “Give Me A Try”

Liverpool-based indie rockers The Wombats continue teasing the fans with the new stuff connected with the release of long-anticipated third album Glitterbug, to be released April 14, 2015, via Bright Antenna Records.

Following a release of the maniac stalker video for “Greek Tragedy” and an audio for the album opener “Emoticons,” the band unveiled a new one – “Give Me A Try.”

Produced by Mark Crew (Bastille) with The Wombats and premiered via Idolator, the song is a perfect America-enlivened indie pop festival manifesto from the artists who really love life. The band has even released a special short video teaser for the new song full of funny faces.

The album’s themes are said to be inspired by core songwriter and frontman Matthew ‘Murph’ Murphy’s experiences in Los Angeles. Drawn to the city’s mix of “opulence and anxiety,” his songwriting for the LP focused upon the idea of writing about a tumultuous relationship with a fictional woman from LA. “Give Me A Try” reflects how Murph’s fictional ideas evolved into real life concerns when he started dating a seemingly unattainable woman from the city.

Talking about the new song, Murph says,

“I really love that song. It’s special to me because it has a far more positive outlook than what you’ve heard from us in the past.”

The Wombats, announced to be performing at Reading/Leeds Festival this year, have already gained success with their latest releases off Glitterbug. The album’s first single “Greek Tragedy” heralded an impressive return for the trio. The single peaked at #2 on Hype Machine’s Popular Chart, landed #1 on Spotify’s Global Viral Chart, was chosen as a Radio 1 Track of the Day as well as XFM’s Record of the Week.
