WATCH: The New Basement Tapes Release Videos Of Performances For “Down On The Bottom,” “Florida Key” And “Golden Tom – Silver Judas”

The New Basement Tapes has revealed more live performances off their one-and-only concert in November at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre in Los Angeles.

Following the release of “Spanish Mary,” three more live performings were released, for “Down On The Bottom,” “Florida Key” and “Golden Tom – Silver Judas,” all from the previously released album. With Elvis Costello and Jim James in charge, all-star piebald outfit looked as connected as possible, making the fans get sentimental with the 1960s folk hymns in a new cover.

In a few words, the star collaboration is described as the multimedia project founded on a treasure trove of recently discovered lyrics handwritten by Bob Dylan in 1967 during the period that generated the recording of his original Basement Tapes. Produced by T-Bone Burnett, he and the artists, including Elvis Costello, Marcus Mumford, Jim James, Rhiannon Giddens and Taylor Goldsmith, dubbing their collective The New Basement Tapes, convened in March 2014 at Capitol Studios in Hollywood to write and create music together for the long-lost Dylan lyrics. Dozens of new songs were completed and recorded by The New Basement Tapes during a two-week period, with the artists swapping instrumental and vocal roles on the tracks throughout the marathon sessions.

As Burnett explains,

“What transpired during those two weeks was amazing for all of us. There was a deep well of generosity and support in the studio at all times, which reflected the tremendous trust and generosity shown by Bob in sharing these lyrics with us in the first place.”
