Dan Deacon @ First Unitarian Church 4/10

Dan Deacon has been recording music since 2003, having released eight albums under several different labels. But his allure is most certainly in his live performances, where the audience interaction is among the most enjoyable elements of his shows. And Philadelphians will have a chance to see him in action this April when he heads here on his upcoming tour.

Deacon has a new album that dropped just a few days ago. Gliss Riffer drops on February 24th via Domino Records. The self-produced album is his follow up to 2012’s America and sees him returning to some of his earlier sounds, like those on 2007’s Spiderman of the Rings. From his press release, we learned that “while Glass Riffer may contain all the instrumental layering we’ve come to expect, this album also marks a newfound appreciation for Deacon’s own vocals, as evidenced on the lead track “Feel the Lightning.” You can take a listen to that track here and also be sure to listen to the newly released “Learning to Relax.”

In support of his upcoming album release, Dan Deacon has added a few tour dates to his schedule including one in Philly this April. He’ll be performing at the First Unitarian Church on April 10th, along with Prince Rama and Ben O’Brien. Deacon was last in Philly for a performance this past March when he opened for Arcade Fire at the much larger Wells Fargo Center. You will not want to miss him at the far more intimate setting at First Unitarian.
