This May, Toronto band METZ will release their second studio album, METZ II. To celebrate, the band will be head out on a month long spring tour with Los Angeles punk band, FIDLAR. After a month of touring across the U.S., the two bands will make their way to Philly at the end of May for a performance at Union Transfer on the 29th. METZ will also be playing at a number of festivals this season, including SXSW and Shaky Knees.
METZ’s upcoming album is set for release on May 5th, via Sub Pop. They have already given us one track off of the album. The band joined forces back in 2008 and released their debut studio album in 2012.the album was on th shortlist for the 2013 Polaris Prize and was met with much critical acclaim, finding its way into Pitchfork’s top albums list of 2012.
In that same year, tourmate a FIDLAR were being named one of Stereogum’s 40 Best New Bands of 2012. Their debut studio album came out in January of 2013 (via Mom + Pop Records). It went on to peak at number 5 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers Chart. In was one of the most anticipated albums to be released that year, due to the success of the band’s previous EPs.
