Releasing their debut record just over a month ago, new punk outfit Happy Fangs has released a new video for “Raw Nights,” one of the tracks off of their debut. Donning makeup that is perhaps a thickly-veiled tribute to KISS, the “Raw Nights” video showcases the best elements of the group: a mighty, conquering sound and vocals that put Rebecca Bortman on par with the best female vocalists in rock history.
There’s always a buzz around when a new group or artist launches the first studio effort of their hopefully long careers. San Francisco punk rock trio Happy Fangs released their debut record, Capricorn back in January, and since then, they’ve been on very early and promising roll. In fairly rapid order after announcing the record, Happy Fangs went to work releasing singles off of the record in an effort to bring the attention of the record to a wider audience. Before we even knew what was happening, Happy Fangs unleashed “In The Morning,” “Fangsgiving,” and “Contagious.” The “Raw Nights” release is the first single for the band to be brought into the video realm, and they couldn’t have picked a better single to have released on video.
With most of the group donning the aforementioned KISS-esque war paint, Happy Fangs have let their presence be known in dominating fashion. Darting back and forth between black and white and color, the video for “Raw Nights” is a tasty preview, albeit a limited one. The success of the video lies in its ability to immediately cause the viewer to want to see them in concert. The energy that was given off by the band, particularly vocalist Rebecca Bortman, was limited in scope, but effective in showcasing the band’s on-stage abilities.
