Jack White, recent Grammy winner and the author of best-selling vinyl album in decades, Lazaretto, goes on promoting his latest single “That Black Bat Licorice” off the aforementioned record. This time it’s a special 3-in-1 interactive video, directed by three different directors.
As pointed out in the press release, the video offers three original films of differing themes that can be interchanged based on viewers’ interaction with their computer keyboard or tablet screen. There is animated version of the clip, directed by James Blagden, live action video, self-directed by Jack White, and epic headbang video by Brad Holland.
In animated video, there’s a mysterious reciprocity between the main character and the ancient pharaoh, mixed with a dashing dance of beefy bats; live action video demonstrates Jack wandering across the town with a flawless hairdo, and a self-confident saltation of a guy under a mask of George Washington; finally, the headbang video presents a bunch of punks on the background of a white wall, doing what they are pros in – waving long colorful hair from side to side.
Jack White, who has previously announced the release of 7-inch single “Black Bat Licorice” with b-side cover of Harry Connick Jr.’s “Blue Light, Red Light,” has become a true rock icon for the last few years, with his grand Madison Square Garden live show with Run The Jewels, and a big reunion with The Raconteurs for a hometown of Nashville, TN, live performance. This time Jack has presented something new and unseen before, expanding our notion about the interactive music clip.
