Caught on video: Afroman punching a fan dancing on his stage during “Because I Got High.”
As Spin reported, rapper Afroman punched a woman in the face during a show in Biloxi, Mississippi on Tuesday, and he was subsequently arrested for assault. The woman was dancing on stage during Afroman’s performance of “Because I Got High,” which apparently bothered the rapper. TMZ reported that the woman was bleeding and crying after the show, but was still able to get up and walk off, as the video shows.
Afroman continued to play after the assult, and was eventually stopped by the police who escorted him off the stage and handcuffed him outside.
The rapper’s representative issued a statement in regards to the incident, which Billboard posted, stating, “This was a completely involuntary reflex reaction to people infringing on his stage space. It was uncharacteristic behavior that was initiated by outside uncontrolled forces.”
Afroman’s rep also claimed that the rapper was surprised by the woman’s presence, and that the lack of security at the venue was to blame.
The rapper issued an apology to “TMZ Live,” stating, “I’m here to apologize. I need some help.”
The rapper also stated that he is “enrolling in an anxiety foundation right now,” and continued, “It was wrong. What happened shouldn’t have happened.”
