New York City natives Interpol will visit the Shrine Expo Hall in April as they continue to promote their latest album El Pintor, released last year. The show will take place during the two weekends they will play at Coachella. The band will be supported by Perfume Genius. The current tour started in Dublin this month and will continue back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean a few times before ending in Germany in August.
El Pintor was met with moderate success peaking at #2 on the US Indie Charts. The third single from El Pintor “Anywhere” will be released next month on March 9. One of the most notable changes on this album is the absence of long-time bassist Carlos Dengler, who has played bass and keyboard on all of Interpol’s previous albums. The bass duties were taken over by lead singer and guitarist Paul Banks.
If the early shows on the tour are any indication, a large portion of their show will consist of songs from their debut album Turn on the Bright Lights. To try and match the success of that first album, which was certified Gold by the RIAA, Interpol employed the likes of Alan Moulder on their latest effort. He is known for producing and mixing albums by such bands as The Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails and My Bloody Valentine.
