Kiesza is a Canadian musician from Calgary, who most recently works in New York City and London. In 2012, Kiesza released her first single after started work with Afuni. The single was titled “Oops” and was about a couple that had unprotected sex. She labelled her style of music at the time “Steam Pop” and “Disco Infused Pop.” Later in 2014 -after gaining popularity – Kiesza stated that the single “Oops” was made as a joke.
In February 2014, Kiesza released the video for her new single “Hideaway” through the indie label Lokal Legend. Idolator considered it unique for having a long take throughout the entire video, as Kiesza walked and danced through the streets of Brooklyn. The Rolling Stone called the style “impressive.” The single then debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart not long after its release.
In addition to music, Kiesza was selected to be the face of a new line of fashion eyewear called “Color Block” by Fendi. She later announced she plans to release her own line of fashion under the name of “SteamPop.”
