British electronic group Hot Chip have announced the release of their upcoming album Why Make Sense? for May 2015.
The album, which is to be the group’s sixth full-length release, is due out May 19 via Domino Records. Why Make Sense?, produced by Mark Ralph and Hot Chip, is the follow-up to the band’s 2012 album In Our Heads. The band’s latest release was in summer 2014, when they dropped a cover of Arthur Russell’s “Go Bang” as part of a tribute to the artist. Recently, Domino Records released a cryptic looping video hinting at Why Make Sense?, but now it has been confirmed.
In support of the new album, Hot Chip will be performing at several festivals in 2015. In late May, they will take part in Washington’s Sasquatch!, along with Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala and Gogol Bordello, among many others. In June, they’ll perform at New York’s Governors Ball Music Festival, featuring other artists like Weird Al Yankovic, Björk and Chromeo.
The forthcoming album will be available on all formats, and there will be a special edition that is only available for a limited time. The special edition will include the album, plus a bonus Separate EP with four new tracks recorded by Hot Chip during the album recording sessions.
