It has been announced that Faith No More’s forthcoming album, Sol Invictus, will be out in May. It’s the group’s first new album since 1997.
Sol Invictus will be out May 19 via Reclamation Recordings/Ipecac Recordings. The album was recorded in Faith No More’s studio in Oakland, California, and was produced by bassist Bill Gould. They first announced that there would be a new album in September 2014, and in November gave an update saying they had ten new songs recorded. A couple weeks after that, they released a new track called “Motherfucker,” and shortly after played a surprise show at San Francisco’s Amoeba Records.
About the album, Gould told Rolling Stone, “What I can say is that I think through our experience as musicians over the years, I think what we’re doing reflects where we’ve gone since we made our last record as Faith No More. I think this kicks things up a notch.”
Faith No More will be touring the world in spring 2015, with dates in Japan and Australia in February and March, dates in the US and Canada in April and May, and dates in Europe in May and June. The tour includes a number of festival appearances, including the Rock in Vienna Festival, the Grüne Hölle Rock Festival, the Rockavaria Festival, Sonisphere Italy and an appearance at Canadian Music Week.
