This weekend legendary jazz trumpeter, composer and bandleader Roy Hargrove will perform in a pair of shows at the Jazz Gallery. Hargrove will be leading a quintet on both nights, with each night featuring a different co-star on Trumpet (2/6: Adam O’Farrill, 2/7: Marquis Hill).
Roy Hargrove has been at the forefront of progressive jazz since he came on to the scene in the early 90’s, making his name in various NYC jazz jams while attending The New School. The two time grammy winner is known for a wide array of collaborations with artists from all different genres–Hargrove has played and recorded with everyone from Herbie Hancock to D’Angelo, Nile Rodgers to Fela Kuti.
There are still tickets for both shows, and each night has two sets (one at 8pm and one at 10pm). Whether you are a longtime jazz devotee, or a new fan interested in getting out and listening to some new music, this is a show you do not want to miss!
