Guillermo Scott Herren, mostly known by his moniker Prefuse 73, is about to drop a music bomb. After four years of silence, Prefuse 73 has finally announced a forthcoming album Rivington Não Rio. And as a bonus – two EPs, everything to be released in 2015!
An upcoming record, hitting the stores May 12 will be released via his new label home Temporary Residence Ltd. The album will be preceded by the the Forsyth Gardens EP on April 28 and followed by the Every Color of Darkness EP on July 14.
Herren describes his mood after the hiatus from releasing anything as Prefuse 73 as follows:
“I’ve come back to hyper focusing, immersing myself in the sounds, rhythms, and formations that created Prefuse 73 in the first place. Recently, I’ve found a new life in the whole process of refining what I’ve created over the years as Prefuse. Right now I’m at my most confident and comfortable since 05/06.”
Guillermo S. Herren, who has launched Yellow Year music label back in 2013, recorded an album with L.A.-based artist Teebs as Sons of the Morning, and who toured as Prefuse 73 as a part of Yellow Year touring campaign in the beginning of 2014, is now hungry for his personal release as never before.
According to the press release, the album’s guests treat the material with a hushed respect: Roc Nation songwriter and Jessie Ware collaborator Sam Dew turns “Infrared” into a sublimely soulful, dimly-lit portrait of inverted R&B; Milo & Busdriver’s vicious, rapid-fire verses contrast a pastoral downbeat to brilliant effect; and elsewhere, Pinback’s Rob Crow and Latin electronic-folk crooner Helado Negro navigate splintered tropics with passive grace. Listen to “Infrared” via Soundcloud below, it’s impressive.
