Father John Misty performed three new tracks from his forthcoming record (to be released next week!) for a New York radio station.
In anticipation of Father John Misty’s newest record, I Love You, Honeybear, scheduled for release next week, the folk singer-songwriter took over the radio waves to amp up the excitement. Pitchfork reports that the New York radio station WFUV held a session featuring Father John Misty performing three brand new songs off of the album.
The first of the three songs is “Chateau Lobby #4 (in C for Two Virgins),” a melodic tune of his emotional attachment to a girl. “People are boring / But you’re something else I can’t explain,” he sings longingly over the beautiful strums of the violin from Paul Cartwright. The second single, “Strange Encounter,” is a more upbeat follow-up to the first song. Halfway through the track, “Strange Encounter” is graced with a strong, energetic guitar solo. The final song, “Nothing Good Ever Happens at the Goddamn Thirsty Crow” is another powerful performance from the entire band. This tune is more of a slow-burning folk-rock song, playing on Father John Misty’s blissful whistles and resilient voice.
Look out for I Love You, Honeybear on February 10 via Sub Pop.
