Blitzen Trapper has announced tour dates, starting in South Carolina in April.
Blitzen Trapper has announced new tour dates for the Spring, and have announced a new LP for Record Store Day.
The new record, called Live Harvest, was recorded during the band’s VII tour. The band played Neil Young’s Harvest the last two nights of the tour, for which Live Harvest was recorded.
Front man Eric Early stated,
“I think we all knew the record before we even tried to play it, came natural. It’s one of those records that takes us to that place of comfort and nostalgia like the Dukes of Hazzard or a Chevy Impala. It just feels good to play it.”
Neil Young’s Harvest was recorded recently after Young split from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and it produced the number one hit “Heart of Gold.” The album was the best-selling album of 1972, and catapulted Neil Young into stardom.
On select dates of the tour, April 14th, April 17th, and April 20th, Blitzen Trapper will be playing Harvest in its entirety.
Blitzen Trapper self-released their first three albums, before signing to Sub Pop in 2007. The band includes Eric Earley, Erik Menteer, Brian Adrian Koch, Michael Van Pelt, and Marty Marquis, with most of the band playing multiple instruments.
Their latest album VII, was released on Vagrant Records. Paste reviewed the album, stating,
“VII is Blitzen Trapper’s strongest album to date, with years of musical experimentation having come together in the band’s own mad-scientist brand of cosmic Americana.”
You can catch Blitzen Trapper on their upcoming tour dates, and you can buy their LP Harvest Live, on Record Store Day.
