Grammy Award-winning Buena Vista Social Club will release a new record featuring unreleased recorded songs from 1996.
Following a two-decade hiatus after creating their Grammy-winning, self-titled LP, Buena Vista Social Club has announced the release date for their latest record. Lost and Found will be released via World Circuit Records on March 24.
The new record will feature a collection of previously unreleased tracks—including songs recorded at the 1996 Egrem studio sessions in Havana. Lost and Found will also contain live recordings of legendary veterans from Buena Vista’s world tours.
Buena Vista Social Club’s original album was, unexpectedly, an international best seller and is hailed as the most successful album in the history of Cuban music. In the years that came after its release, Buena Vista veterans embarked on a world tour and were also filmed as subjects for a celebrated feature film directed by Wim Wenders. A live album recorded at New York’s Carnegie Hall was also released. Buena Vista Social Club will hit the road for a farewell “Adios” tour in 2015.
