The Dean Ween Group Announce Spring 2015 Tour Dates

Dean Ween, who’s real name is Mikey Melchiondo, formerly one half of the alternative rock act Ween, has announced a short list of touring dates for this Spring. Check it out below and read up on his activity recently.

Dean Ween, seen here on the left next to his former Ween partner, Aaron Freeman, also known as Gene Ween, is known as an alternative rocker who is also a fishing guide. He has announced a short tour, the dates of which you can check out below. This is some big news in the world of Ween, as he hasn’t been actively focusing on the music of Ween, but has instead been involved with a newer project since the disbandment of Ween, called the Moistboyz.

The Moistboyz use the same pseudonym surname absurdity as Ween, where each member has chosen to forgo their real names. Dean Ween became Mickey Moist, and his compatriot in the band, Guy Heller, became Dickie Moist. Their music was influenced by heavy metal and punk rock, and it’s lyrics often focused on darkly offensive humor and social commentary.

Moving on from Ween and the Moistboyz, the Dean Ween Group is Mickey’s new project. They have toured before, doing a couple shows around the West Coast last year around Seattle and Portland, and Vancouver. They have also played gigs in New York City before, having had the honor to have been able to headline at Brooklyn Bowl. Brooklyn Vegan, being as they are based in NYC, follow The Dean Ween Group’s experiences and goings on throughout Gotham.

He has appeared on many releases, such as Ben Vaughan’s Instrumental Stylings, Queens of the Stone Age’s Songs for the Deaf and Yoko Ono’s Rising Mixes. According to a previous article, Mickey had the chance to record a solo using Carlos Santana’s guitar and rig that went on the track “Transcendental Celebration”. He has opened for Primus and has performed a cover version of Pink Floyd’s “Echoes” live.

Check out the upcoming tour dates as well as ticketing information! It should be an interesting tour, as it has quite a geographically diverse route!
