FKA Twigs is back with the debut of her new song, “Figure 8.” The new song was performed during her most recent world tour in Melborne, and a small portion was captured by a lucky front row fan.
Although the footage doesn’t have the best audio, you can tell that she has ventured a bit from her usual expected sound, but has continued to kept her high vocals and involved dance moves. The glitzy jacket, the dramatic and powerful lighting, and the general stage composition all lend themselves to the new experimentation from Twigs. This video also comes just days after the release of a self directed music video for “Pendulum,” one of her recent releases as well.
Although FKA Twigs is known for her music now, she has had a history as a back up dancer for artists like Beyonce and Taio Cruz. This pop and R&B influence with her self noted history of listening to punk led to an unmatchable blend in her first two EPs and since their release in 2013.
FKA Twigs has gained notoriety with her 2014 release of LP1, he debut album, and with her nomination for Best British Album of 2014 and being included in the BBC Sound of 2014 program, while her success is continuously growing in 2015. Currently, she is pending several awards from Best Recording Package with the Grammy’s, to Brit Awards and NME Awards focussed on her development as an artist and performer and “Two Weeks,” another one of her recent releases.
Twigs will also be performing at Coachella on April 11th and 18th while Jack White headlines, and on the same day as Alt-J, Hozier, and Run the Jewels.
