Magic Man is a five piece major label synthrock band from Providence, Rhode Island. The band formed in 2010 by Alex Caplow (vocals) and Sam Vanderhoop Lee (guitar/keys). They later added their high school friend Gabe Goodman (bass), and college friends Justine Bowe (keys) and Joey Sulkowski (drums) to their lineup.
Their first EP You Are Here was released in September of 2013. Shortly after its release they embarked on a United States tour supporting Walk the Moon, followed by an immediate mini-tour supporting Sir Sly. The next year, Magic Man released their first major full length release, Before the Waves, under Columbia Records.
Their single “Paris” debuted at number 39 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart, eventually peaking at number 33. In the following spring, the single reached number one on Alt Nation’s Alternative 18 Countdown.
