Yeah Yeah Yeahs front woman Karen O has released a video for the song “Day Go By,” directed by Wiissa.
Karen O has released a video for “Day Go By,” off her debut solo album Crush Songs, out now on Cult Records.
The video, directed by photography duo Wiissa, follows a young couple in love in Miami. The directors stated, “We loved the ephemeral nature of ‘Day Go By’ and wanted to capture a glimpse of a summer memory, passing by just as fast as the song fades away.”
Karen O had an impressive 2014, as Spike Jonze’s Her original song, “Moon Song” was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song. After performing “Moon Song” with Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig at the Academy Awards, O went on to record and release her debut solo album Crush Songs.
Karen O spoke with Vogue about “Day Go By,”
“I wrote this song when I was living in Los Angeles and my boyfriend was stuck freezing in NYC, I really needed my fix of being with him but was miles away. Wiissa brings summer loving to everyone who’s braving a cold winter’s day with this little video for ‘Day Go By.’ My husband has a Vespa, all I’m missing is the cut off tee and then we too can be as in style as these two cuties in Wiisaa’s ‘Day Go By’ short.”
Cult Records will release a Valentine’s Day vinyl edition of the single “Rapt,” on February 10th.
