Purity Ring has officially announced the release date of their sophomore album, along with a brand new track.
Following a three-year hiatus, Purity Ring will return to the music scene with Another Eternity. This marks their second studio album since 2012’s Shrines, which received praise from the New York Times, Rolling Stone, NPR and more.
The electronic music duo, comprised of Megan James and Corin Roddick, released the album’s first single, “push pull,” as a teaser last month. This month they’ve shared another track called “begin again,” which maintains their ethereal sound, supported by Megan’s soulful vocals.
The duo’s sophomore album will “trade the claustrophobic atmospheres of ‘Shrines’ for wide-open expanses of sound,” says a press release. “Megan’s vocals are in sharper focus as she details her lyrical universe of “sweat and dreams” populated by seacastles, rattling spines and weeping drawers. Corin’s gift for evocative melody remains intact but his percussive skills and sense of composition have been refined and honed.”
