Killer Be Kill will be swapping drummers for the upcoming Australia’s Soundwave XV Festival due to scheduling conflicts.
The band’s regular drummer and ex-The Mars Volta drummer, Dave Elitch, is already set to play the same festival with his other band, Antemasque. Considering that Antemasque has been doing more shows than Killer Be Killed, according to an interview with The Metal Review, vocalist Greg Puciato totally understood.
He said,
“ANTEMASQUE confirmed at the same time we did. We didn’t know what day we we’re going to be on, and then it just became an issue whether we wanted to still do it or not, which we obviously did. Then it was, if ANTEMASQUE have a good slot, if we have a good slot, I didn’t want to shuffle the band around to a shittier time slot just to accommodate Dave playing in both bands. ANTEMASQUE for Dave is a much bigger commitment; they’re playing a lot of shows all the time. If he needs to do that, that’s fine with me. Ben from CONVERGE is a fucking animal, so it’ll be cool to play with him.”
The sad part about this conflict, is that as mxdwn reported in November, Soundwave XV was set to be the bands first-ever show together as Killer Be Killed. Filling in for Elitch will be Ben Koller, the current drummer for the band Converge.
As mentioned in Blabbermouth, this year’s Soundwave XV will take place at four different locations in Australia, Bonython Park in Adelaide and Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne February 21-22, and at Olympic Park in Sydney and Brisbane Showgrounds in Brisbane February 28- March 1.
Killer Be Billed is a metal supergroup which includes The Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato, Soulfly and Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera, Mastodon bassist Troy Sanders and The Mars Volta drummer Dave Elitch.
Formed in 2011 by Puciato and Cavalera, the band did not announce their name until 2013. With the release of their self-titled debut album, Killer be Killed had the #5 spot on mxdwn’s Top 40 Songs of 2014 with “Wings Of Feather And Wax”, although Antemasque stole the #3 spot with their song “4AM”.
