Death Cab for Cutie has announced the release of their eight studio album, Kintsugi. The new album will be available everywhere on March 31.
The highly anticipated album, Kintsugi, is significant because it marks the groups first album since Chris Walla left. According to a press release, kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics. Death Cab for Cutie chose this title as a symbol of the wear and tear the group has experienced during their history.
“Considering what we were going through internally, and with what a lot of the lyrics are about, it had a great deal of resonance for us – the idea of figuring out how to repair breaks and make them a thing of beauty,” said bassist Nick Harmer. He originally suggested the title to the group adding, “Philosophically, spiritually, emotionally, it seems perfect for this group of songs.”
Death Cab For Cutie expects to soon be on tour for their new album, Kintsugi. The full tracklist for Kintsugi can be found below. Any additional information about Death Cab For Cutie can be found on the groups official website.
