Brody Dalle Says Macy’s Used Her Image Without Her Permission

Australian born punk rock singer, Brody Dalle, is accusing the US department store Macy’s of using her image without her permission.

According to NME, Dalle says that Macy’s has copied a stencil of her from back in her days with The Distillers, for an advertising campaign called Fashion Rocks. Using a obvious image of her with the distinct Mohican she was wearing at the time, she wrote on Twitter,

Dalle followed up this post, with direct hits to Macy’s Twitter account:

No stranger to voicing her opinion, last year after bashing Iggy Azalea and Jennifer Lopez’s video “Booty”, which was directed by the legendary Hype Williams, saying,

“I think JLo and Iggy Azalea have lost their heads up each other’s big butts… I’m trying to understand what the point of their horrendous video is but I can’t find one,”

she was forced to deny “slut and body shaming”.

She later retracted her statement in sorts, clarifying that,

“JLo and Iggy may feel empowered by their bodies and that’s fine, their bodies ARE powerful, beautiful and life giving. But they are so much more than just their bodies. They may feel that using their bodies is the only currency they have in order to stay popular and on the top. It has become a contest of who gets the most hits on YouTube and Vevo and who can take it the furthest, not about the quality of their songs and the messages they are sending. And why? To make lots of money and to line the pockets of the big machines, regardless of who that affects.”

Dalle released her first album under her own name called Diploid Love which made #20 on mxdwn’s Top 40 Albums of 2014, while the single “Meet The Foetus/Oh The Joy” featuring Shirley Manson of Garbage made #36 on mxdwn’s Top 40 Songs of 2014.
