The Josh Abbott Band is a Texas country band from Texas. It is composed of Josh Abbott (vocals, guitar), Austin Davis (banjo), Preston Wait (fiddle, guitar), Edward Villanueva (drums), James Hertless (bass guitar) and Caleb Keeter (guitar). The band formed in 2006 while the members were attending Texas Tech University.
Their album She Likes Texas was released in 2010 and entered the Top Country Albums charts. Michael Berick of AllMusic rated it four stars out of five and compared it to Steve Earle saying that the Abbott’s songwriting showed “maturity.” The album release led to them selling out their first show at the World’s Largest Honky Tonk “Billy Bob’s Texas.” The show sold out at 6,000 tickets.
The band’s latest album, Small Town Family Dream, was released in 2012. The album produced three singles including “Touch,” “I’ll Sing About Mine,” and “She Will Be Free.”
