Marina Diamandis has released a music video to “Immortal,” which is one of the Froot tracks being released over the six months before the April 6th release date of her new album Froot. The “Froot of the Month” is a single track released, for download and consumption.
“Immortal” is “Froot of the Month” for the month of January.
The new music video uses home video footage projections and warm neon lights to convey some emotional lyrics about death and how love goes on.
“It’s a really universal issue discussing how you leave your mark and how it’s really important to preserve memories and remember people,”Diamandis explained at an interview with The Line of Best Fit.
“I started writing that song when I went to a war memorial in Poland. Something that somebody I was with just struck me… they said ‘It’s not a very beautiful memorial, but it deserves to be visited to keep their memory alive.’ That’s how the song – well, the lyrics – started.”
With being the froot of the month, the song is assigned a fruit, which for January is a blueberry. Online in the lyrics there are words highlighted in blue, “memories” and “forever.” Clicking on memories will open a “Fan Pack” while clicking on forever with give you the chords for Immortal. The fan pack has 7 photos, ranging from a Froot Logo in blue to album artwork. Online there are products available for purchase such as a Froot hat that is the same shade of blue and shirts with an all blue Froot logo.
This is not the first time that Diamandis has used word play to create a food theme in her music. In May Diamandis collaborated with Charlie XCX on a track called “Just Desserts.” To read more about their collaboration, check out this article from mxdwn.
