Yob Announce Spring 2015 Tour Dates

This March, Portland’s doom craftsmen YOB will be touring in support of their latest album, “Clearing the Path to Ascend”, which was released in the fall of 2014 via Neurot Recordings.

“Clearing the Path to Ascend” was recorded at Gung Ho Studio in Eugene, Oregon. During the recording process, the band worked alongside longtime sound wizard, Billy Barnett, and the album was mastered by Audiosiege’s Brad Boatright, who is best known for his work with Sleep, Beastmilk, and Nails.

Upon release, the album caught the attention of major music and media outlets. RollingStone even included “Clearing The Path To Ascend” in their 20 Best Metal Albums Of 2014, where it held the coveted No. 1 spot. In the piece, the magazine noted that “[t]he seventh album from Oregon doom metal sky-gazers, YOB, … makes perfect bedfellows of volume and beauty, pain and transcendence.”

RollingStone went on to commend the recording’s musiciality with the following comment: “Opener ‘In Our Blood’ extends a simple riff into complex arches, tracing [vocalist Mike] Scheidt’s voice as it moves from an exquisite falsetto to a death-metal bellow in the course of sixteen-minutes. And during the colossal closer ‘Marrow’ – possibly the best metal song of the year, one that uses low notes to play uplifting melodies – Scheidt sings ‘Time will fall inside the dream.’ His voice suddenly reaches out like a clarion’s call, clear and telling and beautiful. It’s a pronouncement from the living, a semaphore pointing into the future.”

YOB’s recently announced North American tour will take the band to a number of cities across the United States, and they also have a handful of dates scattered throughout several Canadian provinces. The tour follows two sold-out nights at Brooklyn, New York’s renown rock bar, Saint Vitus, as well as their last European tour, which was a massive success, according to a press release.

On their North American tour, YOB will be supporting the progressive black metal band, Enslaved. And, there will also be additional support on the tour from Ecstatic Vision, a Philadelphia-based quartet that is signed to Relapse Records. Then, YOB has announced a series of April dates with Witch Mountain, another Portland-based doom metal band. All of the details and a link to purchase tickets are listed below.
