Hit HBO show Game of Thrones will be releasing a mixtape for season five of the show called Catch the Throne. It had already been announced that Killswitch Engage was recording for the mixtape, but now it seems like Anthrax will be featured as well.
The members of Anthrax are big fans of Game of Thrones, and the show’s executive producer is an Anthrax fan too. The band visited the show’s set in Belfast, Ireland, and said that they’d love to record some of the drums for their upcoming album in the throne room, though it’s unclear if that has happened.
Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach posted photos on Instagram, along with the following message: Today was a really really really cool day! Still can’t believe HBO filmed little band (that started in a small bedroom in Massachusetts) and is putting out one of our songs for a little show called ‘Game of Thrones’!”
Anthrax have posted a photo on their Facebook page of them in the studio with the hashtag “#Catch the Throne,” which would imply that they, too, are recording something for the mixtape. This won’t be the first mixtape for the hit series – a hip hop mixtape for Game of Thrones was released in March 2014. That one featured Big Boi, Common, Wale, Snow Tha Product, Daddy Yankee and more.
