Noisey & Hennessy have put together a 42-minute video that features 36 rappers. It’s appropriately called “The Rap Monument”.
Until Noisey came out with this release, the Game’s 13-minute, 25-rapper “One Blood” remix took the cake for a rap posse track, according to Stereogum.
Actually, one of the “One Blood” rappers, Pusha T., makes an appearance on this track as well. And, he has the honor of being the one to take the first spot onscreen. Pusha T. is joined by Young Thug, YG, Killer Mike, Danny Brown, Action Bronson, Raekwon, Prodigy, Problem, Heems, and Yak Ballz, among many others.
The rappers are working with a beat laid down by Hudson Mohawke, S-Type, and Nick Hook. And, the video – all 42 minutes of it – shows the various rappers in the studio learning their verses [or reading them from mobile phones], and recording their parts. Consequence of Sound describes the track as “a truly wild experience, a maddening rush of near-endless wordplay and braggery supplemented by beats that hit on every sonic concept from trap to gospel and beyond.” Also, it is interesting to note that the video that is released, so far, is a censored version with profanities masked by bleeps.
