After heading production of Ty Dolla $ign’s single “Stand For,” all-star DJ/producer Diplo has released a remix entitled “Long Way Home.” The new version features some of indie rock’s elite, including Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmangilj and Grizzly Bear’s Edward Droste.
The new remix was first reported by Consequence of Sound. Sonically, it represents a total transformation from the original collaboration between Diplo and Ty Dolla $ign, eschewing its hip hop beat in favor of languid melodies courtesy of Droste and Batmangilj. In a tweet to announce the remix, Diplo concisely described the sound as having a “beach boys meets ty$ kinda vibe,” which feels apropos.
In addition to this remix, Diplo collaborated with Skrillex under the moniker Jack Ü to release a video for the single “Take Ü There” on November 25. Coming up, Diplo is slated to play a New Years Eve show at Madison Square Garden, which will also be in tandem with Skrillex.
