“OH…MY…GOD!!!” That’s what most people say after giving a shot to Death Grips for the first time. But somehow they get back to the band after while. Well, “Inanimate Sensation,” the first single from Jenny Death, second part of the band’s final album the powers that b, creates exactly such an impression.
Large screen, crashed into the floor of 8-bit basketball court, shows psychedelic visualizations and MC Ride rapping hard in rotation. Add to this mind-blowing drilling industrial sounds and monotonous drum machine – and see the picture of a real beauty. Hidden somewhere deep inside.
Death Grips, experimental hip hop band from Sacramento, have announced their disbandment back in July, thereby, causing a lot of trouble to Trent Reznor by refusing to support Nine Inch Nails in their U.S. summer tour. However, Niggas on the Moon, the first part of the powers that b, released shortly after the announcement, has received generally favorable reviews, what allows to assume the best band’s songs are saved up for their swan song – Jenny Death. Unfortunately, the release date for it isn’t announced yet, as reported by Spin. Maybe, that’s for the best – “the less we know, the better we feel,” according to David Bowie.
