Belle & Sebastian premiered their new video for the track “Nobody’s Empire” today on their website.
The song is from the band’s upcoming album Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance, set for release on January 20 and featuring the track “The Party Line.” That track also has an accompanying video, which was released at the end of November.
The music video for “Nobody’s Empire” features a variety of video footage, including what seems like stock footage, vintage home videos and a lip sync to the Belle & Sebastian lyrics. There are also choice words that show up on the screen in stylized fonts and on vibrant backdrops, lending a heaviness to the meaning of those lyrics.
In addition to working on their new album, Belle & Sebastian performed at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in October. Stuart Murdoch, a member of the group, worked with actress Emily Browning on God Help the Girl, the soundtrack for the film of the same name, in 2014 as well.
