Rocker Ty Segall is releasing his new EP, Mr. Face, on January 13. The most notable thing about this release is that the double 7″ EP is also the first-ever playable pair of 3D glasses!
How can records possibly double as 3D glasses? Well, they were pressed on translucent red and blue vinyl, so when you look through the records, it activates the 3D artwork on the EP’s packaging. Mr. Face is now available for pre-order on iTunes for digital downloads and on Famous Class for the double 7″ vinyl records.
Segall has been on a roll with the release of new material in 2014 and it looks as though he’ll continue that streak into 2015. In August he released his seventh solo album Manipulator, which fans could stream on NPR music before its release. He also released a video for “The Singer,” a track off of Manipulator, in October. At the beginning of November he announced a compilation of his loose singles from 2011-2013, a sequel to his compilation cassette from 2010. The result, which was released November 18, was $ingle$ 2, a collection of 12 tracks.
