The nominees for the 2015 Grammy’s were announced and are creating a lot of buzz. Beyoncé, Sam Smith, and Pharrell are leading the pack with the most nominations.
Sam Smith is a standout as he was nominated as best new artist, record of the year, song of the year for “Stay With Me” and also appears in two other categories. Beyoncé also made history by becoming the most nominated woman in Grammy history.
Alt-J and St. Vincent are both nominated for best alternative music album along with Arcade Fire, Jack White, and Cage the Elephant. Arcade Fire’s video “We Exist” which features actor, Andrew Garfield and promotes gender issues was nominated for best music video. Whether you wanted to immediately get rid of it from your phone or not, Songs of Innocence by U2 was nominated for best rock album alongside Ryan Adams, who was also nominated for best rock song and best rock performance for “Gimme Something Good.” There were no out of the blue nominations but some categories had their own surprises.
