In light of Night Terrors of 1927’s announced release date for their full-length debut album, the band has also premiered a video for their lead single, “When You Were Mine.”
Night Terrors of 1927, founded by Rilo Kiley’s Blake Sennett and The Honorary Title’s Jarrod Gorbel, have finally announced a release date for their debut album, Everything’s Coming Up Roses. The critically-acclaimed band’s album will arrive January 20, 2015 via Atlantic Records.
In addition to their debut album announcement, Night Terrors of 1927 have unveiled a companion video for the album’s lead single, “When You Were Mine,” featuring Vancouver’s alternative twin sister duo Tegan and Sara. In the video, an image of a girl flickers as she passionately dances around the bounds of her apartment in sync with the synth-heavy, rock-pop tune. Sennett, Gorbel, Tegan, and Sara all make an appearance crying out, “I was blind and we swore it was time… When you were my waste of time.”
The band told Rolling Stone in a joint statement: “When first written, the song was inspired by one specific relationship. As it evolved, it became less personal and more universal, a snapshot of those relationships that burn intensely at the outset but are ultimately doomed. The flickering of the characters in the video helped symbolize the pattern we repeat in our desperate search to feel whole or to find love.”
Along with three other album tracks, “When You Were Mine” is featured on Night Terrors of 1927’s Anything to Anyone EP. Watch the video below.
