Carl Barat & The Jackals Announce New Album “Let It Reign” For February 2015 Release

After a fall tour and the announcement of new album with The Libertines, Carl Barât has announced another new album with his own band, The Jackals. Billed and stylized as Carl Barât & The Jackals, the group has a single “Glory Days” – from their upcoming debut album – available as a free download via their website for a limited time.

Let It Reign – the band’s debut featuring “Glory Days” – will be out on the 16th February 2015 via Grand Jury Music in the U.S., and in the U.K. it will be released on Cooking Vinyl Records. The album was recorded in Los Angeles, Calif., and features Beastie Boys percussionist Alfredo Ortiz, among other notable guest musicians.

What motivated Barât to form the Jackals?

“I actually started making this record solo, but the long and short of it is I just didn’t like my own company,” he said in a press release about the new group and upcoming album.

And, instead of calling a few old friends to make up the band, Barât turned to the Internet. He posted an ad asking if there were any musicians with similar sensibilities, who wanted to try and play with him. The response was resounding with thousands of replies to his original post. “I was lucky, because I found a bunch of people who genuinely fit together as a gang,” he said in the press release.

Carl Barât & The Jackals are:

Carl Barât – Vocals and Guitar

Billy Tessio – Guitar

Adam Claxton – Bass Guitar

Jay Bone – Drums

Their album is available for pre-order on iTunes, and the single, “Glory Days”, can be downloaded here. And, connect with the band on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for the latest photos and announcements.
