Angel Olen has released a video for “Windows,” a track off of her newest record Burn Your Fire For No Witness.
With a voice that’s part Enya in melodic purity and part Richard Manuel in range and emotional saturation, Angel Olsen has unleashed a new video for her track “Windows.” The video is set in some sort of countryside retreat with both Olsen and a couple of youngsters prancing around in an open field and in a house on the property. Olsen wants the subject of her song to open a window, either literal, emotional, or otherwise. Perhaps Olsen is asking the listener to open their eyes, which have often been referred to as the “windows to the soul.” Perhaps she wants the windows to open up and let in a little fresh air into either her or our lives. Or, perhaps, she’s merely tired of the darkness that envelops the house she and the two sprats occupy, and she wants the windows open to let a little light in. These are the multiple interpretations that cement the artistic breadth that Angel Olsen has come to encompass during her early career, and “Windows” offers up a minor sample of what is to come from both the artist herself and her latest record.
