Irish crooner, Damien Rice, is headed back to Philly next year. Rice announced a 2015 tour of North America that kicks off in Atlanta on March 31st. He’ll make his way to Philadelphia about a week later, on April 8th. And you can see him perform when he plays at the Academy of Music. Rice is out supporting his newest record, My Favourite Faded Fantasy, and this upcoming tour is the perfect opportunity to see an artist who hasn’t been around for a while.
Fans of Damien Rice have had to be very patient for the past few year. In fact, the last time we saw a record from him was nearly 8 years ago. And for Philadelphia fans, the last time we had the chance to se him live was back in 2007 when Rice played The Mann Center. But he’s finally returning in 2015 to deliver fresh new music for fans who have long been supporters of the singer/songwriter.
Rice released his first album, O back in 2002. And his second album, 9, quite a few years later in 2006. This newest album’s title is considerably longer than it’s predecessors. The album drops on November 3rd here in the US and was produced by the mega-talented Rick Rubin. Damien Rice performed his first single from the album, “I Don’t Want to Change You” on Late Night with David Letterman. You can take a look at that performance here.
