After a month of long winded “narratives” on Facebook, rebuttals by the band about the reasoning behind guitarist Jon Brannstrom’s firing, and leaked Instagram captions leading to rumors of a new album, Refused has announced through a Facebook post that they will be touring this coming Spring and Summer.
The post on the bands Facebook page wasn’t accompanied by any explanation or word on the new album, it just listed tour dates and their locations.
The band last reunited in 2012 to play a string of music festivals including Coachella, Groezrock Festival in Belgium, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, but later confirmed, once again through Facebook, that the reunion was just for the year of 2012.
In 2010, Epitaph Records by way of the Refused website began speculation of a reunion, which turned out to be a promotional stunt to go along with the reissue of the band’s final album The Shape of Punk to Come.
Refused is no stranger to dramatic passive aggressive statements, back when the band first broke up in 1998, they released a letter to the public titled “Refused Are Fucking Dead.
The Instagram post that basically confirmed the new album said:
”in austria tonight for the ahoi pop festival weekend along with st. vincent and this guy’s band invsn which he’s doing between finishing vocals for the new refused album that’s coming out next year.”
