A new Kickstarter project has been announced to fund the re-mastered version of BT’s hit EDM songs to include the stunning sounds of a symphony orchestra. $200,000 needs to be pledged by December 10 to fund the project.
The talented and internationally renowned composer, producer, and musician BT has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the production of a new album Electronic Opus. This album, if funded, will be unlike anything you’ve probably ever heard. BT explains that the idea for this album was laughed at and brushed aside by record companies and executives, but it’s hard to understand why when you hear the proposal: BT’s hit EDM tracks re-created to include a full orchestra. What more could a modern-music fan ask for? The newest developments and advancements in music technology combined with the classics? Sounds like an awe-inducing musical match up. The Kickstarter is asking for $200,000 by December 10, and the goal is over half-way reached already. The project funds will cover the symphony and choir and their music arrangements, recording studio, track recording and editing, instruments, studio time, mixing, mastering, CD manufacturing, Kickstarter and Amazon fees, marketing, and a couple other necessities in creating a quality album. What is important to know about BT is that he is a classically trained musician, and has been from a young age. This album would showcase both that and his talents in composition, revealing the merge of the old and the new in music technology.
BT has had a very successful career up to this point, and he seemingly has plenty more to offer. He is not only a platinum-selling artist, but also a talented producer, film composer, and technologist. Several stand-out artists have worked with and highly esteem him, including Britney Spears, Sting, Madonna, Tori Amos, and more. His scores have also been major contributions to films such as The Fast And The Furious. The music he composes is so far-fetched that many of the instruments needed to compose his music do not yet exist, leading him to also excel in programming. He is certainly an innovator in modern music, taking it places that have not yet been ventured.
A sampling of the kind of tracks this album would include can be found on their article on kickstart, and although they are using computer-based symphony instruments, it gives a good look of what’s to come. “Flaming June,” “Dreaming,” and “1.618” are the sampled tracks and they are absolutely worth listening to. The combination of symphonic instruments and electronic dance music is not like any popular music of the past or modern day-it’s the future of music technology tied in with the beautiful classical sounds where music finds its foundations.
Rewards are offered to those who are backing the project, ranging from the album itself, to pins and stickers, with the ultimate reward after a backing of 10k or more being shark diving with BT. If the project goes beyond its goal, there are stretch goals which include adding two tracks to the 12-track album, behind the scenes video, and a full-length documentary concert dvd. Do your part to make this all happen!
