Gerald Earl Gillum, better known as G-Eazy, is an American rapper, songwriter and producer from Oakland, California. G-Eazy started gaining fame in 2009 when he won the NAACP Best Music on Campus Woodie. By 2010 G-Eazy was offered to open up for famous rapper, Drake. In 2011, his first two singles, “Waspy” and “Candy Girl,” had over 400,000 plays on MySpace. More recently, G-Eazy has opened up for well known artists, such as Hoodie Allen, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Shwayze, Big Sean, A$AP Rocky, and has even featured the annual summer Warped Tour.
In summer of 2011, G-Eazy released his mixtape The Endless Summer, which is up for free download on his website, along with his newest mixtape, Must Be Nice. The Endless Summer includes a mix of different songs with G-Eazy’s personal twist. His remake of the 1950’s No. 1 hit “Runaround Sue” by Dion Dimucci has gained over 3 million views on YouTube.
G-Eazy recently released his third studio album, These Things Happen. It debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart, and number one on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart in it’s first week of sales. G-Eazy is currently on his headlining tour From The Bay To The Universe, which consist of two legs of the tour, adding up to a total of over 50 shows nation wide.
