The British post-punk legends known as the Pop Group, have just announced their North American tour dates which will include appearances at the 2015 SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX.
Although the original lineup of the Pop Group only stayed together for three years according to Brooklyn Vegan, most of the original memebers including singer Mark Stewart, guitarist Gareth Saeger, bassist Dan Cantis and drummer Bruce, reunited in 2010 and have been playing together ever since. What started at ATP NY in 2011, has turned into a full tour and an upcoming LP.
Last month, mxdwn announced the rerelease of the bands classic compilation album We Are Time, which is a collection of rare live tracks and alternative mixes entitled Cabinet of Curiosities. The original album was first released in 1980.
Best known for such songs as “She is Beyond Good and Evil”, “We Are All Prostitutes”, “Feed the Hungry” and “Rob a Bank”, the Pop Group are, “abrasive, militant British punks rage against racism, oppression, hunger and anything else that’s a world problem,” according to Trouser Press.
The tour which includes two shows in NYC, Rough Trade on March 16 and Bowery Ballroom on March 17, plus the for mentioned SXSW Music Festival March 18-22, is the band’s first ever North American tour.
