British band Ride will be reuniting for the first time in over a decade at the 2015 Primavera Sound Music Festival in Barcelona, Spain. The festival will take place from May 28-90, 2015, but the only other confirmed act so far is The Strokes.
As Consequence of Sound reports, one-time record company for Ride, Creation Records, posted a photo of the group implying a reunion. The photo’s caption read “Ride Reunion 2015 photo from Primavera this morning,” and included the hashtag #RideReunion. Pitchfork was able to confirm that the 2015 reunion is happening.
Ride, made up of members Andy Bell, Laurence Colbert, Steve Queralt and Mark Gardner, formed in 1988 and continued to make music until 1996. They later reunited in 2001 for a documentary and archival box set. Bell, Colbert and Gardner have each joined each other onstage during solo performances, but it is reported that Bell was uninterested in a Ride reunion until now. Part of the reason for the reunion may be the end of Beady Eye, Liam Gallagher’s post-Oasis group, of which Bell was a member. Ride has also announced a world tour for summer 2015; see below for a full list of dates and locations.
