The Flaming Lips have announced two New Years concerts in support of their album, ‘With A Little Help From My Fwends’. The New Years shows will also feature the Lips’ friends – or, maybe we should say “fwends” – Foxygen.
‘With A Little Help From My Fwends’ is a track-by-track tribute to the Beatles’ iconic “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album, and featuring fan favorites reimagined by The Flaming Lips and their special guests.
The album was released in late October; so, November been a promotional period. And so far, we’ve seen Grace Potter team up with the Lips’ for a special performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! of “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” and “With A Little Help From My Friends”. Then, the Flaming Lips brought another “fwend” with them for a performance of “A Day In The Life” on Conan.
The details surrounding the New Years concerts are limited at this time; however, we’ll provide the information that we can confirm.
So far, we know that there are two concerts – one on the night before New Year’s Eve, and then another on New Year’s Eve itself. Both concerts will be held at The Warfield in San Francisco, California, and begin at 8 p.m., according to AXS. Also, Flaming Lips’ front man Wayne Coyne posted a photo on Instagram, which alludes to the possibility of an announcement naming at least one additional special guest to the lineup.
Additionally, AXS lists alternative band Bad Things as playing as a part of the show on December 30th. But, at this time, the only confirmed guest is Foxygen, and they’ll be playing both nights with the Lips.
Again, the details are:
