Father John Misty, aka J. Tillman will be releasing his second solo album under the Father John Misty moniker. The album, being dubbed I Love You, Honeybear, is set to be released on February 10th via Sub Pop Records. The album will be supported by a tour throughout the winter and spring, kicking off in January in California. We’ll have to wait a while before Father John Misty makes his way across the US. He’ll finally arrive in Philly in the spring. You can catch him when he performs at Union Transfer on April 1st.
Last week, Father John Misty made a stop on The Late Show with David Letterman to perform a new song off the album. You can take a listen to “Bored in the USA” and check out Misty’s performance here. Of his new record, Father John Misty says, “It has decidedly more soulful presence than Fear Fun, due in no small part to the fact that I am truly singing my ass over this motherfucker. The album is really characterized by the scope and ambition of the arrangements. Nearly every tune is augmented by something special, be it orchestral strings, a mariachi band, questionable electronic drum solos, ragtime jazz combos, soul singers, or what have you. I’m pretty sure there’s a sitar in there somewhere. Blammo.” That beind said, we’re excited to see what Father John Misty presents on his newest release.
Support for Father John Misty’s April show will be King Tuff. In September of this year, King Tuff released his third album, Black Moon Spell. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Heatseeker chart. You’ll absolutely want to show up to Union Transfer early to catch King Tuff before Father John Misty hits the stage.
