Ministry, the industrial-metal pioneers from the 1980s, have confirmed a number of shows for 2015.
American industrial metal band Ministry have endured a bumpy ride during their long tenure. In 2008 after 27 years of performing together, frontman Al Jourgensen announced that the band had called it quits and would never get together for a reunion. In an interview, Jourgensen admitted that the reason for their breakup was due to the time-consuming nature of the band as well as the hassle of releasing new albums.
However, contradicting past claims, Ministry announced that a reunion would happen at the Wacken Open Air festival in 2012. In the wake of their hiatus, the band recorded their twelfth studio album Relapse, released after their reunion show on March 23, 2012. Months after the start of a world tour promoting the album, the band’s guitarist, Mike Scaccia, suffered from a heart attack while performing onstage at a birthday celebration. After Scaccia’s sudden death, Ministry came forth with their final album, From Beer to Eternity, but stated they would not go on tour without him.
Flash-forward to today, Jourgensen and the rest of the Ministry crew have confirmed that they are ready for the stage again. The band has revealed that they will join again for a tour in 2015. More tour dates will be announced soon.
