English singer, songwriter and DJ Little Boots will be releasing a new EP on December 1, 2014. The EP will feature four new tracks.
Little Boots is the stage name of Victoria Christina Hesketh, who also used to be a member of the band Dead Disco. Her upcoming EP, Business Pleasure, is expected to be a preview of her third full-length album, which will be released in 2015. Her style of electropop blends “narrative house” music, early millennium R&B and “DIY pop.” It was produced by Jas Shaw of Simian Mobile Disco, Com Truise of Matthew Dear’s Ghostly label and Chris Carmouche, who has worked with Outkast and Janelle Monae.
Between the title of the EP, Little Boots’ appearance on the cover and track titles like “Pretty Tough” and “Heroine,” it’s not hard to imagine Business Pleasure as a female empowerment record for the 21st century. In fact, in a statement about the album, the British artist said, “For the first time I’m in a place where I’m truly in control of my career both creatively and logistically, which is incredibly liberating and exciting. I wrote a piece for The Times last year about my experiences of pop-life and then setting up my own label, and the response was overwhelming. It’s such an inspiring time for empowered young women.”
Though it won’t be available until December 1, fans can pre-order the Business Pleasure EP online now.
