Brooklyn-based electro-pop group Young Ejecta have released their first song, “Welcome To Love”, from their forthcoming sophomore mini-album The Planet.
Neon Indian’s Leanne Macomber and Ford & Lopatin’s Joel Ford have released a new song under their new moniker, Young Ejecta. Previously known as Ejecta, the group was forced to change their title when contacted by a DJ who operates under a similar name.
After a well-received introductory 10-track album entitled Dominae in the fall of 2013, the electro-pop duo announced a new album in the works. Scheduled for a January 27, 2015 release, the group’s forthcoming mini-album The Planet will feature “electronic minimalism, euro disco, and 70s pop balladry,” according to a press release. Macomber explains that she aspires for Young Ejecta’s sound to be “‘universal’, ‘timeless,’ and representative of the ‘everywoman’”.
Macomber and Ford’s first single for the album, “Welcome To Love” embodies just that. The song features Macomber’s smooth, calming voice evokes a feeling of tranquility. Along with Ford’s layering of simple beats and sparkling synths, “Welcome To Love” creates somewhat of a lullaby, albeit the slightly contemptuous lyrics.
